bearing my soul to you.
Thank God 2021 is over.
Whew!
A lot happened.
“It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”
Lamentations 3:22
It's the beginning of a New Year '22. To some, it's just another cycle of three hundred and sixty five days _or six (lol) if it's a leap year. Some see it as a recount of days with no difference in nothing but numbers and scores, not really putting any special significance on January till December and on and on.
You know the drill.
This doesn't mean they are ungrateful but instead they take life as it goes. Theirs include: Letting go of the past at the end of each twenty-four hours, thirty or thirty one days depending on the count they make because irrespective of what we think, we are always counting.
Taking cognisance of each significant _and insignificant events not putting a special value on another night into a new day. They view the “Happy New Year” as a courteous statement or reply.
This doesn't mean they are wrong or their ideology is faulty. Not everyone shares the same culture, traditions, norms, ideologies and what not so it's best to refrain from imposing and accept whatever reaction is thrown your way respectfully.
Nevertheless...
There are others who see it as an avenue to begin afresh. Here's when you see series of “New Year Resolutions” which sometimes turns out to be wishful thinking of strong desires, needs, wants and sometimes drafted so outrageously that it is difficult and almost impossible to achieve. This does not mean it's bad. Infact it is nice_ as a child ‘planning ahead’ was one of the things I learnt I mustn't do without.
Believe me, it can be burdensome, stressful and discouraging to keep up at times especially when you tend not to achieve all you have planned.
I have been in both phases of awareness and I cannot say I am out of it yet. My point is what phase are you in?
Do you have plans written down or are you taking 2022 one day at a time?
Can I make a suggestion?
Irrespective of how you have planned to take this year, take time to ask God the plans he has for you so your plans won't be yours alone and your days would bring fulfillment.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
