THE EXCHANGE

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  Mark 8:36-37  Recently, I had a trigger which left me with a raging headache and all I could think of was this verse. It was more like a chant or a broken record that just kept playing over and over again. What was the trigger? Affluence, Wealth, Opulence, Money, El dinero, you name it and the value that has been placed on it as individuals _to put it nicely. I'm in an area where I get to see things _girls in fancy dresses looking all made up, fine and dandy with beautiful manipedis, top notch phones, nice scents, excellent carriage and  how comfortable they are in their skin even when sometimes it's nothing but a facade.  I'm not trying to describe them as perfect. No, they are a long way from perfection.  Everyone's time is different. It varies and just as not one person can tell when the clock of their lives ...

MISEIN

Misein- A Greek word It means ‘HATE’ This should be filled with dislike Absolute distrust Irritation and irk. Where to start? Everything about her is pretentious down to the nick. She's got the manipulation thing going And no one can tell but her. When you see through him through his facade and the lies... Oh! Dear me are all so unbearable. He has a streak of notoriety And everything about him screams ‘jerk.’ That is,  When you get to see ‘him’  for who ‘he’ is. If you're unfortunate and you don't, You'll get swamped in a pity party and lose your sense of reason. She isn't worthy of being  a villain in a fairytale. A cheapskate that doesn't know how to quit. Her addiction runs past normal levels and no doctor can run a diagnosis. There's no remedy  for her illness is incurable. Her sob stories are not genuine Filled with insincerity. Even a five year old would cringe at the plot. It's sad how much people see his shows, Only to leave in regret...

STEREOTYPES

Here's one of my favorites 고사성어 (goh-sah-sung-uh) Korean Idiom. 온고지신 (on-goh-ji-sin) ~Review the old in order to learn new things. In English, this means to take a leaf out of a wise man's book. I believe, learning does not have to be within a circumference of the tenets we are used to. It involves opening our hearts to listless opportunities no matter how unconventional it may seem. I remember when I started learning Hangul (한글) a particular guy laughed at me. He asked me ‘what's the point?’ and I smiled.  I'm sure there are others with the stereotype that any slight interest displayed towards either Korean art or culture as a whole is based on some sort of obsession with their drama or their pop culture. Regardless of the level of truth in it, my point is, overgeneralization has contributed to the retarded mental process of individuals in the society.  Imagine setting the standard of a guy's masculinity based on the type of movies he watches or a girl...

DELILAH

There's no perfect way to start this. Just as a budding emotion_ attracts series of confusing scenarios. Everything with you, for her, is undoubtedly an infatuation. It may seem blurry at it's inception but the lines gets defined with time. Then, it becomes clear and what is done with that clarity_ is entirely up to her. This is where you come in. A slow conversion. The things you attract, Del. The subtle change in her mannerisms. Her aura gave the chills.  The slight intonation in her words. Her body told stories and her grin Oh! Her grin, was nothing like his. Hers screamed infatuation. Thank God for Debs. Deborah. Who's remedy was KISS. “Keep it short and simple. Don't indulge. Starve it.  Avoid it. Kill it. There's no sin or shame in running.” Under no circumstance should it be acknowledged_ Lest you become a host for parasites. The contamination of her heart_ into that of a Jezreel. Oh Delilah,  You mustn't metamorphose into this poor soul. Your...

Facts & Fiction: Here's a Fact

People are like water. They come to pass. Like water, some may seem so similar and identifying the difference would be almost impossible. Remember, the difference is in their pH level. There'll be a point in time when you'll question the validity and intentions of those around you. Everything would seem like a repetition of the same ol' thing and you'll question the point of making valuable relationships.  Trust would become difficult, if not impossible. Then, you'll decide to join in the game thereby creating an endless round of ‘cruise.’ This note isn't to assure you that there's someone out there for you. There's no way I'd know that.  Neither is it to warn you against creating a chain of pain that would never end. I'm sure you know that already. The best I can do is say; Check the values of those around you, ensure they are in-line with yours and decide on which one is healthy for you. pH levels determine whether a water is safe t...

Aegritudo

Threading fingers in hair, frantic. Searching for air, trying to catch her breath, while controlling tears. Emotions threatening to blow up all at once. Burning eyelids laden with puffy cheeks. Trying to muffle the sobs, in a flat crescendo, Only to manage choking sounds. The struggle to find air, as well as comfort while rocking back and forth with knees drawn up to chest. In a hurried yet controlled motion, desperate to find a pen, when not blinded by tears. Perhaps, a word or two would soothe this ache.
